Consumer Electronics Compliance: 2024 Year in Review
Webinar Overview
Regulatory compliance in 2024 has been a significant year for a number of products – particularly consumer electronics. A variety of topics have been affected by the avalanche of regulations, including product safety, consumer protection, energy efficiency and circular economy.
Our 2024 review of consumer electronics compliance will cover a number of key topics that have dominated the year, including:
- EU: Manufacturers’ have an obligation to repair products beyond the legal guarantee period in accordance with the EU Directive 2024/1799. This change prioritizes repair across the EU and affects all goods covered by Directive (EU) 2019/771 that are sold to consumers.
- US: A proposed House Bill requires original equipment manufacturers of digital electronic equipment to make available any documentation, parts, and tools needed for diagnosis, maintenance, or repair.
- European Council: As part of the European Green Deal, the European Council published Directive (EU) 2024/825, banning green washing to prevent unfair commercial practices which can mislead consumers regarding the environmental, social and sustainability/circularity aspects of products. We will explore what unfair commercial practices are now banned, the use of a harmonized notice and a harmonized label, as well as the implementation deadlines.
- Saudi Arabia: A comprehensive Product Safety Law was adopted covering all products, both local and imported, that are placed or offered in the market. The webinar will cover manufacturer’s obligations, product information and traceability, technical documentation and conformity, as well as liability for product defects.
- Rest of World: We will also touch upon some key regulatory developments in the rest of the world, so you can manage obligations impacting your business and stay ahead in today’s regulatory landscape.
This webinar will also present how Compliance & Risks’ enterprise software, C2P, helps you stay on the regulatory pulse. Register now to secure your spot!
