ISO to Create Privacy Standards for Consumer Goods
The ISO have begun developing a team to create standards to ensure consumer privacy is embedded into the design of a product or service.
There is a lack of standards in consumer goods affiliated with Internet of Things (IoT) developments resulting in weaknesses in the area of both data and consumer protection.
The new ISO project committee, ISO/PC317 will develop guidelines that are committed to ensuring greater consumer trust and enforcing compliance with regulations. The first set of guidelines will focus on embedding consumer privacy into the design of a product or service. They will also consider the impact of artificial intelligence, the sharing economy and data protection in relation to online transactions.
