Speakers
Joanne O’Donnell: Head of Compliance
With 21 years of post-qualification experience, Joanne heads up the Global Regulatory Compliance team at Compliance and Risks. She has extensive national and international legal experience in private practice, in-house, and industry and has been with Compliance and Risks for over 12 years. She helps support its clients with their global legal compliance challenges with a particular interest and focus on Sustainability, ESG, Climate Change, Human Trafficking, and Slavery as well as Business and Human Rights.
Joanne has a Bachelor of Arts (Legal and French) and a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland as well as a Masters in International Law (LLM) from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva, Switzerland. She also has a Masters Degree in French from the University of Limerick, Ireland. She recently completed a Masters course in Business and Human Rights at the University of Bergen, Norway. She qualified as a Solicitor with the Law Society of Ireland in 2003.
Giselle Chia: Regulatory Compliance Analyst
Giselle joined Compliance and Risks as a Regulatory Compliance Analyst in 2023. She is responsible for monitoring the regulatory developments in Taiwan and ASEAN countries, including Indonesia and Brunei. She assists clients with their global compliance challenges in the areas of Cybersecurity, Ecolabelling, Transport of Dangerous Goods, and Construction Products.
Giselle holds an Honors Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the South East Technological University, Ireland, and a Barrister-at-Law Degree from the Honorable Society of King’s Inns, Ireland. Giselle was admitted to the Bar of Ireland shortly after obtaining the Barrister-at-Law Degree.
Giselle is a Mandarin native speaker who also speaks fluent English, Bahasa Malaysia/Indonesia and Cantonese.
Miran Bahra, Partner, Associate Solicitor, Disputes, Investigations & Advisory
Miran is an Associate within the Dispute Resolution team at Ashurst LLP, specializing in Product Litigation and Regulatory Risk.
Her work spans several sectors including automotive, cosmetics, consumer goods, industrial, and life sciences. She has experience in dealing with matters with a multi-jurisdictional element across the full product lifecycle including product launches, ongoing regulatory compliance, due diligence, advertising and marketing, product recalls, and litigation, including group and mass tort claims. Miran has a particular interest in ESG and DE&I.
Thomas Panter, Senior Associate – Product Litigation and Regulatory Risk
Thomas is a senior associate in the Product Litigation and Regulatory Risk practice of the Disputes, Investigations, and Advisory division in Ashurst. He has a broad practice covering general commercial, and civil litigation (including group/class actions), regulatory compliance, and investigations. He has acted for a diverse range of corporate clients, including within the technology, E-commerce, consumer goods, food, tobacco, life sciences, industrial and automotive industries.
Thomas’ work has an international focus and touches upon the full product lifecycle, including product launches, ongoing regulatory compliance including advertising issues, enforcement proceedings, supply-chain disputes, recalls, and litigation including group/class actions. He has worked on matters of the highest complexity including multi-jurisdiction issues with the largest spanning more than 190 jurisdictions and some of the most significant group (“or class”) action disputes before the European courts.
